Tests for women

Price of Avidin vaginal microbiome test: 69 900 HUF

The test is based on a modern molecular biology technology of next-generation sequencing, it is able to detect all types of microorganisms in a gynecological sample, i.e. bacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses.

The results (a twenty-page personalized report) will be arrived within 7 workdays.

Description:

Vaginal microbiome (or vaginal flora) is defined as the complex ecosystem of microorganisms – bacteria and fungi – located in the vagina. Instead of culture test, the Avidin Vaginal Microbiome Test is based on a modern molecular biology technology of next-generation sequencing. The test is unique in its ability to detect all types of microorganisms in a gynecological sample, i.e. bacteria, including sexually transmitted bacteria, fungi, the single-celled protozoan Trichomonas vaginalis, as well as known viruses that can cause vaginal infections, such as human papillomavirus (HPV – serotyping), herpes simplex virus (HSV-1, HSV-2), Epstein-Bar virus (EBV), molluscum contagiosum virus (MCV), human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and adenoviruses.

The vast majority of microbes found in the vagina are not harmful, and in fact they specifically contribute to maintaining a healthy urogenital (urinary-genital) environment. For example, Lactobacillus species protect against many urogenital diseases, including bacterial vaginosis, sexually transmitted diseases, yeast infections, urinary tract infections and even some gynecological cancers.

By revealing the composition of the vaginal microbiome, the Avidin Vaginal Microbiome Test provides the opportunity to classify the microbiome according to its composition, based on the so-called “Community State Types” proposed in the literature. The bacterial composition of each type is unique, allowing important conclusions to be drawn about the health and integrity of the urogenital system. The microbiome categories determine the overall impact of the vaginal flora on health (protective, neutral or harmful), the likelihood of vaginal infections and the risk of developing various urogenital disorders.

It is recommended to perform the vaginal microbiome test:

  • in case of unsuccessful childbearing, infertility, when there is no hormonal cause
  • in case of recurrent discomfort, vaginal pain
  • vaginal dryness in the absence of hormonal abnormalities
  • in case of recurrent fungal infection, inflammation
  • if virus detection is required

Sampling is performed in the form of self-sampling.

We provide a special sampling device for sampling, this is the only way we can accept a sample. You can pick up the sampling device from our laboratory at the booked time and we will provide you with a detailed sampling information leaflet.

Please store the sample in the refrigerator and return it to our laboratory no later than 24 hours after sampling.

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, such as in the ovaries and fallopian tubes.

Description:

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, such as in the ovaries and fallopian tubes.

The complement system refers to proteins circulating in the blood that are part of the immune system, involved in elimination of bacteria and viruses as well as it serves as a mediator of inflammatory responses. C3 and C4 tests can also be used to monitor autoimmune disease activity.

The causes of elevated C3 level can be: bacterial infection, SLE, glomerulonephritis, vasculitis, liver disease, immune complex diseases, autoimmune polyarthritis (PCP), rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Among the measured parameters, cancer antigen 125 II (CA-125) may indicate the presence of ovarian tumors, and cancer antigen 19-9 (CA-19-9) may indicate the presence of pancreatic, bile duct, colon, lung, gallbladder tumors.

Tumor markers alone are not suitable for exclusive screening!

A negative result does not exclude the presence of a tumor!

These tumor markers are not specific!

CA-125 levels can also be elevated during menstruation, pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease.

CA 19-9 levels may also be elevated in gallstones, inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis and liver diseases.

Tests:

  • Inflammatory parameters: interleukin-6 (IL-6), complement C3 (C3)
  • Infection serology: complement C3 (C3)
  • Tumor markers: cancer antigen 125 II (CA-125), cancer antigen 19-9 (CA-19-9)

Hair loss has many causes. In addition to genetic causes, there are often hormonal changes (testosterone/estrogen ratio, thyroid disorders), inflammation, vitamin deficiencies, infections, skin diseases, chemical effects, poisoning, radiation and burns, prolonged stress, temporary weakening of the immune system, organ diseases, drug effects. Hair loss may also be triggered by a decrease in the levels of certain ions (iron, zinc, calcium).

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex hormonal and metabolic disorder.
PCOS is the most common cause of infertility.

Description:

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex hormonal and metabolic disorder.
PCOS is the most common cause of infertility.

Symptoms of PCOS: irregular menstrual periods (menstrual cycles lasting months, long cycles (35 days); missed menstrual periods (cycles longer than 180 days); missed or aborted ovulation; increased LH/FSH ratio (LH/FSH greater than 2.5 with increased prolactin levels); ultrasound findings showing ovarian enlargement, pearl-like cysts on the ovary; acne, acne-prone skin; increased facial hair (hirsutism); high levels of male sex hormones (testosterone, DHEA-S, androstenedione) and decreased SHBG levels; elevated blood insulin levels, insulin resistance or latent diabetes; obesity, dyslipidemia (high cholesterol, LDL, TG and low HDL levels); infertility; hair loss; hypothyroidism; low vitamin D levels.

In this package, we measure laboratory parameters that influence a woman’s menstrual cycle and fertility status.

We measure sex hormones (estradiol, FSH, LH, prolactin, androstenedione, DHEA-S, SHBG, total testosterone).

The determination of the anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) provides information about the ovarian reserve capacity. Basic thyroid hormonal functions (TSH, FT3, FT4, anti-TPO), the function of the main enzymes (GOT, GPT, GGT, ALP), levels of breakdown products (urea, uric acid, creatinine) are determined. It provides information about cardiovascular risk factors (triglycerides, cholesterol, HDL-C, blood glucose, insulin), the hematopoietic system (blood count, iron, transferrin) as well as provides information about the status of the ionic balance (Na, K). Additionally, our laboratory measurements indicate inflammatory processes in the body (blood count, CRP) and determine vitamin D level.

The test includes a three-point blood glucose and insulin test with oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at 0, 60 and 120 minutes.

The examination takes more than 2 hours due to the OGTT test and can only be carried out by appointment.

Tests:

  • Carbohydrate metabolism: glucose (GLU, fasting; 0, 60, 120 min), insulin (fasting; 0, 60, 120 min)

Our TORCH panel 1 is a screening test package for pathogens that can harm the fetus during pregnancy.

Description:

Our TORCH panel 1 is a screening test package for pathogens that can harm the fetus during pregnancy.
Microbial infections can cause serious consequences such as miscarriage, developmental abnormalities (malformations) and premature birth.
The acronym TORCH is a collective name that refers to following pathogens: Toxoplasma gondii, “Others” (other microbes), Rubella virus, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes simplex viruses.

TORCH panels differ in other microbes.

Toxoplasma gondii is a single-cell parasite that is mainly transmitted by cat feces or by contact with plant food. Soil contaminated with cat feces can be a source of infection for up to 1 year. Undercooked meat food can also cause this infection, as the parasite can be present in the muscles of infected animals. Infection is normally asymptomatic but can be more severe in immunocompromised individuals.

A new-onset infection in the pregnant mother can result that pathogens cross the placenta, damage to the fetus, and consequently lead to miscarriage, premature birth or developmental abnormalities of the fetus.

The screening test involves the detection of IgM and IgG antibodies to the pathogen and IgG avidity testing.

Parvovirus B19 is the virus that causes erythema infectiosum (fifth disease, megalarythemia). It is spread by droplet infection, causing mainly mild fever and diarrhea. About 25% of patients may have bilateral reddening of the face, rashes on the chest and limbs, and arthritis. Infection during pregnancy may cause miscarriage or intrauterine death.

Varicella virus causes chickenpox. Infection with chickenpox typically provides lifelong immunity to reinfection. In pregnant women who are first infected in the first trimester of pregnancy, the virus can cause developmental abnormalities and fetal death in the last trimester. Shingles is also caused by the varicella virus (Herpes varicella zoster), so the patient can also spread chickenpox. Symptoms: fever, redness, small blisters.

Rubella is a mild, contagious, viral disease, which occurs mainly in children. As a result of vaccination, its prevalence is rare nowadays. Symptoms: fever, sore throat, joint pains, pinhead rash on the body. Pinkish blue spots can also be seen on the mucous membranes of the mouth.

If the virus infects the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy, it can cause malformations, heart problems, vision and hearing loss.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) can cause encephalitis, inflammation of the retina (retinitis) in the eye, pneumonia, inflammation of the stomach and intestines, and can also be a threat to the fetus.

Contrary to other viruses, no immunity to the virus develops after infection.

Evaluation of results:
CMV IgG  negative      IgM negative    Avidity -negative         no infection
CMV IgG  positive      IgM positive     Avidity -low                 acute infection
CMV IgG  positive      IgM positive     Avidity -high                reactivated infection
CMV IgG  positive      IgM negative    Avidity -negative          past infection

Herpes simplex viruses (HSV-1 and HSV-2) cause characteristic skin symptoms: tiny blisters that later dry up. Symptoms may also include mild fever, muscle aches and swelling of the lymph nodes. HSV-1 causes symptoms mainly on the lips, HSV-2 mainly on the genital organs. It can cause miscarriage or organ abnormalities in the fetus, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy.

In those who have already been infected, the antibodies produced in the body also protect the fetus.

Tests:

  • Infection serology: Toxoplasma gondii infection (T): TOXO IgM, TOXO IgG II, TOXO IgG Avidity
  • Infection serology: Other infections (O): Parvovirus B19 IgG, IgM
  • Infection serology: Rubella infection (R): Rubella IgG, IgM

Description:

Our Tumor marker tests can help identify different types of tumors that most commonly affect women’s health. The package includes laboratory measurements of tumor markers for liver, ovarian, breast, stomach, colon, pancreas and lung lesions.

Tumor markers can indicate disease recurrence or metastasis several months earlier than imaging techniques or onset of clinical symptoms.

Tumor markers alone are not suitable for exclusive screening!

A negative result does not exclude the presence of a tumor!

These tumor markers are not specific!

When liver cells are formed, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is produced. Its level is elevated in liver, ovarian and testicular cancer. Among the test parameters, cancer antigen 125 II (CA-125) may indicate ovarian tumor; cancer antigen 19-9 (CA-19-9) may indicate pancreatic, bile duct, colon, lung, or gallbladder tumor; and cancer antigen 15-3 (CA-15-3) may indicate breast, colon or lung tumor. Elevated cancer antigen 50 (CA-50) may be the sign of gastrointestinal tumors. CA 72-4 is parameter to monitor the disease progression and the treatment of patients with gastric and ovarian cancer.

β-2-microglobulin (B2M) is produced by the body’s immune system (B lymphocytes) or by tumor cells. It can also be used to diagnose certain kidney diseases (glomerular dysfunction). Its level is elevated in tumors affecting the hematopoietic system (multiple myeloma, lymphoma, B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia, Hodgkin’s disease, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma).

The carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is produced by embryonic and tumor cells. Its level can be elevated in gastrointestinal tumors or in breast, lung, liver, pancreatic and ovarian cancers. In non-small cell lung cancer (mainly squamous cell and large cell carcinoma subtypes), CYFRA 21 1 is considered the most suitable biomarker.

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is produced in placental cells and plays a role in the maintenance of the corpus luteum during pregnancy. Its level is elevated from the first week after conception to 8-10 weeks, making it an excellent indicator of pregnancy. Otherwise, an elevated level may indicate ovarian, placental, pancreatic, breast or, in men, testicular tumors.

Cancer antigen 242 (CA-242) is a tumor marker for colorectal and pancreatic cancer types.

Chromogranin A (CgA) can be used to diagnose neuroendocrine tumors and to monitor therapy in treated patients. Neuroendocrine tumors can arise in almost any organ of the human body, most commonly arising from the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas, and the bronchial system. The concentration of chromogranin A correlates with disease activity and tumor size.

Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) is a tumor marker for ovarian carcinomas. The determination of HE4 concentration is also useful to monitor the diagnosed and treated malignant ovarian cancer.

The SCC antigen is used for the follow-up of squamous cell carcinomas.
Pro-gastrin-releasing peptide (ProGRP) is a sensitive tumor marker of neuroendocrine cancers.

Lactoferrin is an iron-binding protein that is also present in neutrophil granulocytes involved in the inflammatory immune response. Thus, its level correlates with inflammatory processes in gastrointestinal diseases. Its level may also be elevated in colorectal tumors.

Calprotectin is a calcium-, zinc- and manganese-binding protein produced by neutrophil granulocytes and monocytes. Its level may also be elevated in colorectal tumors.

The measurement of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) can be used to monitor the efficacy of therapy and to assess changes in the condition of patients with tumors, particularly small-cell lung cancer and neuroblastoma.

The measurement of S-100 protein can be used to support the management of patients with malignant melanoma and to support the management of patients with brain injury (traumatic brain injury or stroke).

These tumor markers are not specific!
CA-125 levels can also be high during menstruation, pregnancy and pelvic inflammatory disease.

CA 19-9 levels may also be elevated in biliary cancer, pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis and liver disease.

CA 15-3 levels may also be elevated during liver and breast inflammation.

Elevated serum levels of CA 72-4 may also occur in certain non-malignant diseases (e.g. pneumonia, pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis and ovarian cysts).

CEA levels may be elevated in inflammation, cirrhosis, ulcers and in heavy smokers.

Elevated CYFRA 21 1 levels have also been described in non-malignant diseases (e.g. pneumonia, sepsis) and abnormal kidney function.

High AFP levels may also be seen in hepatitis, cirrhosis and hepatitis.

β-2-microglobulin (B2M) level can be elevated in renal inflammation, autoimmune diseases (systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Sjögren’s syndrome (SjS), Crohn’s disease and infections (cytomegalovirus (CMV), nonA-nonB hepatitis, mononucleosis infectiosa, HIV).

Elevated NSE levels may also occur in malignant neuroendocrine diseases, many other tumor diseases and clinical pathologies.

Chromogranin A may also be elevated in pheochromocytoma, pancreatic and prostate tumors.

Tests:

  • Tumor markers (serum test): alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), β-2-microglobulin (B2M), cancer antigen 125 II (CA-125), cancer antigen 15-3 (CA-15-3), cancer antigen 19-9 (CA-19-9), cancer antigen 242 (CA-242), cancer antigen 50 (CA-50), cancer antigen 72-4 (CA-72-4), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), chromogranin A (CgA), Cyfra-21-1, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), neuron-specific enolase (NSE), S-100 protein, Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4), pro-gastrin-releasing peptide (ProGRP), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) antigen
  • Stool analysis: stool blood, lactoferrin, calprotectin
