The EBV EBNA-1 IgG test indicates the incubation period of the virus.
Description:
Epstein-Barr virus is one of the herpes viruses. This virus is characterized by persisting in the body after infection and it can reactivate after so-called incubation period. The infection (mononucleosis infectiosa virus mononucleosis) is transmitted by saliva and it is considered a mild-course infection. Symptoms include: fever, sore throat, lymph node swelling, and deterioration of liver function. The virus can sometimes lead to the development of lymphoma, nasal and throat tumors.
The EBV EBNA-1 IgG test indicates the incubation period of the virus. The ZEBRA IgM test is used to detect the transition from the virus incubation phase to the lytic phase. The EBV VCA IgM and IgG measurements indicate the early stage of virus infection when the structural proteins of the virus are formed.
Tests:
- Infection serology: Epstein-Barr viral infection: Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen specific IgG antibody (EBV EBNA-1 IgG); Epstein-Barr replication activator (anti-EBV, ZEBRA, EB1, Zta) antigen specific IgM antibody; Epstein-Barr viral capsid antigen specific antibody (EBV VCA IgG); Epstein-Barr viral capsid antigen specific IgM antibody (EBV VCA IgM)

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterial infection is the cause of a significant proportion of infections of the digestive tract.
Description:
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterial infection is the cause of a significant proportion of infections of the digestive tract. In the stomach, it damages the lining and can cause ulcers, reflux and sometimes can lead to stomach cancer. It breaks down urea into ammonia and bicarbonate (which is further broken down into water and carbon dioxide), thus reducing the acidic chemistry of the stomach with the alkaline breakdown products. Other effects may include: atherosclerosis, skin diseases, arthritis, and bile formation. They can be detected by functional testing (exhalation test), detection of antibodies in blood and antigen in stool.
Antibiotics can eliminate the bacteria.
The Serologic package for Helicobacter pylori infection is used to detect antibodies. If IgM level is high, it indicates the early stage of infection. If IgG level is high, the infection has been present for longer. The appearance of IgA is rare, but if it is high, the extent of inflammation is bigger.
Tests:
- Infection serology: Helicobacter pylori infection: anti-Helicobacter pylori IgA, IgG

Inflammatory disease of the liver can be caused by various factors (viruses, fungi (rare), chemicals, drugs, alcohol, hereditary diseases or autoimmune processes). Inflammation can be short-course (acute), which can take a few months to resolve, or can last for years (chronic).
The symptoms of hepatitis vary greatly from person to person and can vary considerably depending on the time that has passed. Acute hepatitis often presents with few and mild symptoms (fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, fever, abdominal pain), but may also present with jaundice, itching, dark-colored urine, light-colored stool. During physical examination, the liver is enlarged and tender. Chronic hepatitis is often asymptomatic or the patient feels tired and lethargic. However, chronic hepatitis gradually damages the liver and eventually leads to liver failure after many years. The chronic form persists for years and does not resolve without treatment.
The most common cause of hepatitis is viral infection. Hepatitis viruses are called A, B, C, D and E in the order in which they are discovered.
Hepatitis A viral infection is spread by water and food (through stool). Symptoms are similar to flu and often remain undiagnosed. A significant proportion of patients recover spontaneously.
Hepatitis B virus, the most common cause of viral hepatitis. It is transmitted sexually, through infected needles or blood. Most patients recover spontaneously. Infection is most dangerous for newborn babies.
The most common cause of acute viral hepatitis is infection with the hepatitis B virus. The infection is transmitted through sexual contact, contaminated needles, contaminated blood, but can also be passed from an infected mother to her newborn baby. Most patients recover without treatment, but around 1-3% will become carriers. Newborn babies are at particular risk of chronic infection.
In rare cases, hepatitis C infection can be transmitted through contaminated blood products from transfusions, contaminated needles (drug users) and body jewellery, improperly cleaned tattoo equipment, acupuncture and other invasive alternative therapies. It is the most common cause of chronic hepatitis, which develops in 55–85% of infected people.
Hepatitis D only causes infection when hepatitis B is also present, and exacerbates the symptoms of hepatitis B infection. Similar to hepatitis B, hepatitis D is transmitted by infected transfusion blood products and contaminated needles.
Hepatitis E is most common in Asia, Africa and South America. Its spread similar to hepatitis A.
The package detects acute infection and immunity to hepatitis B virus and antibodies to hepatitis C.
Tests:
- Infection serology for Hepatitis B viral infection: anti-HBc (core) hepatitis B Total II, anti-HBs (surface) hepatitis B Total II, HBsAg Ultra Hepatitis B

Our TORCH panel 1 is a screening test package for pathogens that can harm the fetus during pregnancy.
Description:
Our TORCH panel 1 is a screening test package for pathogens that can harm the fetus during pregnancy.
Microbial infections can cause serious consequences such as miscarriage, developmental abnormalities (malformations) and premature birth.
The acronym TORCH is a collective name that refers to following pathogens: Toxoplasma gondii, “Others” (other microbes), Rubella virus, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes simplex viruses.
TORCH panels differ in other microbes.
Toxoplasma gondii is a single-cell parasite that is mainly transmitted by cat feces or by contact with plant food. Soil contaminated with cat feces can be a source of infection for up to 1 year. Undercooked meat food can also cause this infection, as the parasite can be present in the muscles of infected animals. Infection is normally asymptomatic but can be more severe in immunocompromised individuals.
A new-onset infection in the pregnant mother can result that pathogens cross the placenta, damage to the fetus, and consequently lead to miscarriage, premature birth or developmental abnormalities of the fetus.
The screening test involves the detection of IgM and IgG antibodies to the pathogen and IgG avidity testing.
Parvovirus B19 is the virus that causes erythema infectiosa (fifth disease, megalarythemia). It is spread by droplet infection, causing mainly mild fever and diarrhea. About 25% of patients may have bilateral reddening of the face, rashes on the chest and limbs, and arthritis. Infection during pregnancy may cause miscarriage or intrauterine death.
Varicella virus causes chickenpox. Infection with chickenpox typically provides lifelong immunity to reinfection. In pregnant women who are first infected in the first trimester of pregnancy, the virus can cause developmental abnormalities and fetal death in the last trimester. Shingles is also caused by the varicella virus (Herpes varicella zoster), so the patient can also spread chickenpox. Symptoms: fever, redness, small blisters.
Rubella is a mild, contagious, viral disease, which occurs mainly in children. As a result of vaccination, its prevalence is rare nowadays. Symptoms: fever, sore throat, joint pains, pinhead rash on the body. Pinkish blue spots can also be seen on the mucous membranes of the mouth.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) can cause encephalitis, inflammation of the retina (retinitis) in the eye, pneumonia, inflammation of the stomach and intestines, and can also be a threat to the fetus.
Contrary to other viruses, no immunity to the virus develops after infection.
Evaluation of results:
CMV IgG negative IgM negative Avidity -negative no infection
CMV IgG positive IgM positive Avidity -low acute infection
CMV IgG positive IgM positive Avidity -high reactivated infection
CMV IgG positive IgM negative Avidity -negative past infection
Herpes simplex viruses (HSV-1 and HSV-2) cause characteristic skin symptoms: tiny blisters that later dry up. Symptoms may also include mild fever, muscle aches and swelling of the lymph nodes. HSV-1 causes symptoms mainly on the lips, HSV-2 mainly on the genital organs. It can cause miscarriage or organ abnormalities in the fetus, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy.
In those who have already been infected, the antibodies produced in the body also protect the fetus.
Tests:
- Infection serology: Toxoplasma gondii infection (T): TOXO IgM, TOXO IgG II, TOXO IgG Avidity
- Infection serology: Other infections (O): Parvovirus B19 IgG, IgM
- Infection serology: Rubella infection (R): Rubella IgG, IgM

A new-onset infection in the pregnant mother can result that pathogens cross the placenta, damage to the fetus, and consequently lead to miscarriage, premature birth or developmental abnormalities of the fetus.
The screening test detects IgM and IgG antibodies, which are produced against the pathogen. Depending on the results, further tests may be performed to clarify the exact serological status. Your doctor may ask you to send a repeat sample for this purpose.
What do the results mean? In the evaluation of a serological test, susceptibility is indicated if no antibody specific to the pathogen is detected (negative IgM, negative IgG result). In the case of susceptibility, only IgG antibody is detected (in this case, so-called IgG avidity can be tested), IgM antibody is not present. A positive IgM result may indicate a current (acute) infection, in which case further testing is required.

If the preliminary testing for Toxoplasmosis confirms the co-presence of IgG and IgM antibodies in the sample, it is necessary to repeat the sampling, to observe the so-called titer change and to test the IgG avidity, which helps to determine how “old” the detected IgG antibody is.
Toxoplasma IgG avidity test: (only in case of positive IgG result – additional test). Especially in pregnant women, it is important to estimate the approximate time of recent infection. Toxoplasma IgG avidity test serves this purpose and provides information about the strength of antigen-antibody binding. A high avidity indicates a history of infection, whereas a low IgG avidity result may indicate a recent infection.

C. pneumoniae bacterium is responsible for approximately 10% of pneumonia. It is spread by droplet infection and usually causes mild symptoms (fever, cough). In the elderly, the risk of developing more severe cases (pneumonia) is higher. It can also develop COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and may play a role in the development of many cardiovascular diseases.
Mycoplasma pneumoniae bacterium causes mostly mild lower or upper respiratory symptoms. It can also trigger autoimmune mechanisms, resulting in meningoencephalitis, arthritis and gastrointestinal symptoms. Infection does not cause persistent immunity; thus, it can occur repeatedly.
C. trachomatis bacterium is transmitted. It can cause lower respiratory tract infections and pneumonia (especially dangerous for newborns).
Anti-streptolysin O (ASO) antibody, which is produced and effective against one of the toxic enzymes (streptolysin O) of Streptococcus pyogenes bacterium. This bacterium is the most common pathogen of sore throat (bacterial pharyngitis) and it can result in many skin infections (erysipelas, impetigo, pyoderma, cellulitis). The infection can also lead to rheumatic fever, odema, high blood pressure (hypertension), heart damage or glomerulonephritis, which is one type of kidney diseases.
